Coastal Cubs 14U Development Team Completes Fall Program

The Coastal Cubs 14U Development Program finished their fall program with a sweep of annual Turkey Bash at Ehlings Park. The team showed great improvement on all the basic fundamentals of the game. The Coastal Cubs 14U spring program will begin practices and games February 2019. At the helm for the spring will be Coach Chris Joyce, current pitching coach at Santa Barbara City College.

2018 Coastal Cubs 14U Begin Fall Development Program

The Coastal Cubs 14U fall program has begun their team practices and games.  The Coastal Cubs are coached by Chris Joyce (assistant Coach SBCC), Gabe Speier (current MiLB player Kansas City Royals) and Michael Jacobson (current SBCC pitcher). The Cubs practice at the home field of the SBCC Vaqueros and play their home games at Goleta Valley Little League Junior Field.  The roster of the Coastal Cubs are comprised of 7th and 8th graders from the Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez greater area.  The program and coaches emphasize skill development in preparation for the next level.

Ian Churchill Recognized as Top Prospect of Alaskan Summer League

LHP Ian Churchill of Santa Barbara City College has been recognized by as one of the top pitching prospects in the prestigious Alaskan Baseball Summer League. Churchill dominated competition in the Alaskan League and help guide the Matsu Miners to the Alaskan League Championship.

Churchill grew up playing in Santa Barbara's local youth leagues and attended San Marcos High School where he was coached by Jacob Pepper.

Churchill has also spent several summers as a member of the Santa Barbara Grizzlies Baseball Group pitching for the Coastal Cubs HS/College teams and has helped coach the Coastal Cubs 14U program.
